What is an IPO?

Players and teams are introduced to the market through an IPO (Initial Public Offering).

Is a player or team IPO'd once in a lifetime or every season?

New IPOs take place every season. Once a season ends and Earnings Day takes place, the stocks you purchased during that season no longer move up or down. New stocks for that league will be issued (IPO'd) prior to the start of the next season.

How are IPO prices determined?

PROTRADE analyst Lucas Ruprecht (aka Statistical Savant - go ahead and tease him about the nickname - we do) sets the IPO prices by projecting the future performance of the player or team, and then discounting the values based on the uncertainty of that future performance.

When are the IPO prices announced?

The IPO prices are announced the morning of the IPO.

When are new players IPO'd?

IPOs are normally released on the site each Wednesday between 2-3 pm PST.

Once PROTRADE analysts determine a player will consistently produce fantasy earnings for the remainder of the season, that player will be added to the market with an IPO. (Teams do not have to pass this threshold.) This means that not all players in a league are available to purchase. Just because a player had a good game doesn't mean he will have multiple good games at the same rate.

What if I disagree with Lucas' number crunching? How do I request a player to be IPO'd?

Write a post with IPO: (insert player's name) in the subject line. Include the reason they should be IPO'd in the post body. Don't forget to mark the topic "IPO" as well.
