When is a stock retired?
An athlete's stock will be retired when he is officially declared out for the season. The decision to do so will be based on the best information available to PROTRADE. Once retired, a player's price will be locked - meaning it will no longer move up or down, so we suggest that you sell (or cover) the retired stock to free up your cash for other investments. If events change (i.e., a player comes back from a serious injury earlier than expected), the stock may be IPO'd again according to our current process.
How is the retirement price determined?
His price will be set to either his lowest traded price since his IPO or his current earnings for the season or $30, whichever value is higher. A stock will not be retired, however, if the athlete's team has completed at least 90% of its regular season games when he is declared out for the season. The 90% threshold falls at 74 games for the NBA, 146 games in MLB, 15 games for the NFL, 32 races in NASCAR and 36 events in Golf.
